The same software base runs as SaaS, in your data centre or on a Linux edge system directly at the charging site. A cloudless standalone deployment means the local OCPP services have no permanent dependency on a NeLeSo cloud.

Frequently asked questions about the OCPP Server.

Can I run the OCPP Server on-premises?

Yes. The same software base runs as SaaS, on-premises in your infrastructure or on suitable edge hardware at the site. The local OCPP services can operate without a permanent connection to a NeLeSo cloud. External partner services still require their intended connectivity.

How do I test against the OCPP Server?

The charger simulator creates virtual OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0.1 charge points for development and CI, while the OCPI/EMP simulator covers roaming scenarios. For real hardware, request test access and connect your wallbox straight to a dedicated WebSocket endpoint.

Does the OCPP Server support German calibration law (Eichrecht)?

Yes. The server processes and stores OCMF-signed meter values, so charging sessions can be billed in compliance with German calibration law and verified by end customers through transparency software.

What is the difference between the OCPP Server and the OCPP Gateway?

The OCPP Server is the protocol building block of the NeLeSo Charging Platform: it manages charge points, sessions and meter values and exposes APIs for applications. The OCPP Gateway is the separate commercial product for external backends, observation and migration. Gateway and Server can be combined deliberately in Platform and migration projects.
